Its a great round, honestly I have loved my .270 and I was looking at getting a deer gun and have been leaning .270 WSM!! However I live out West and we have BIG deer, big bears, BIG animals out here, even small spike deer have massive thick bodies these deer are mixed with a mule deer. But looking at the numbers and being a tad bigger then the .270 .277 really is better, almost like a .280 Ackley which is a great round too, but I love the short fat magnum rounds amd the rifling twist it's a great combination and technology coming together. My decision was between the 6.5 PRC to the .270 WSM and now this round came out its between the .270 WSM and the 6.8 Western! Im seeing an awful lot of 6.8 Western ammo too so good for Winchester

The FMJ m1152 rounds pop! They're great for getting a feel for how your JHP defensive ammo will feel.

This looks like a nice round and I am thinking of getting a rifle, but let's be honest, it is not the fastest straight-walled hunting cartridge. Think about the 454, the 460 Magnum, th 500 magnum for starters. Sure they are revolver rounds, but Winchester did not claim the 350 was the fastest straight-walled AUTO-LOADING cartridge.

Come do that on public land in our real rifle season after Thanksgiving, and not on some private preserve during a time of year that we as residents aren't even allowed to use a firearm. Gross misrepresentation of hunting in Pennsylvania. And Hopewell Bedford County isn't Southwest Pennsylvania, it's South Central.
